Bloodsport and Peacemaker are at the forefront of the new images of the long-awaited ‘The Suicide Squad’, from James Gunn, Warner Bros. and DC.
The film is set for a dual release, both in theaters and on HBO Max, in August, but while the production meets its official premiere, the marketing campaign is still in full swing.
These new images of the non-sequel to ‘Suicide Squad’ by David Ayer continue to confirm our theories: Bloodsport and Peacemaker are among the most essential characters in the new plot that the director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ thought for the MCU from Marvel Studios.
Just weeks from the premiere
As with the version of Ayer, this production introduces us to a series of social misfits, criminals and crazy “antiheroes”, where we will see back to the macabre mind of Amanda Waller, the “not so formal” Rick Flag and the fan favorite Harley Quinn.
That means that Viola David, Joel Kinnaman and Margot Robbie return to bring their iconic characters from the “first part” to life, and that certainly created a lot of confusion, since, again, this Gunn production is not a sequel, nor a continuation of what we saw a few years ago.
With Idris Elba and John Cena at the helm of this new team we are sure that the new underdogs will be very well represented. Do not get us wrong, Bloodsport and Peacemaker are not the protagonists of this story, but, without a doubt, they have great relevance in the plot, but why give a solo series to the character of Cena and not to King Shark, of Sylvester Stallone?
The truth is, we believe that this production will bring them to you and that the new “task” will leave us much more entertained than we could experience a few years ago when Enchantress arrived to damage everything.
The new Suicide Squad has undergone a staff upgrade. Amanda Waller gathers a new group of talented criminals to travel to a Nazi-era laboratory and destroy it. However, a starfish-shaped villain – undoubtedly the most eccentric of the film – stands in his way.
New stills from the production also show Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Ratcatcher II (Daniela Melchior), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), and Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian).
