For several months we have been hearing about the ‘Spartacus project’, the supposed response of Sony’s PlayStation platforms to the success of the Xbox Game Pass service. It has been rumored that it could be an evolution of PS Now, that it would have several levels with different costs and that it would even replace PS Plus. Now, thanks to journalists Jason Schreier and Takashi Mochizuki of Bloomberg, we’ve learned a lot of interesting details about this upcoming service.
According to the report, what can you read hereSpartacus yes will combine the two current Sony subscription services: PS Plus and PlayStation Now. They also confirm that subscribers will be able to choose between “multiple levels of service with different catalogs of modern and classic games from previous consoles”.
Schreier and Mochizuki also warn that Spartacus would be at a serious disadvantage against Game Pass: this service would NOT offer immediate access to the biggest games on their launch day
Although this information is not official, Bloomberg has always been pretty accurate in his reporting and we have no reason to doubt his veracity. Journalists also say that Sony plans to reveal Spartacus, or whatever PlayStation Game Pass ends up being called, the last week of March 2022.
