A few days ago they finally revealed the release date of the long-awaited game. Star Wars, but the news was quickly overshadowed by a scandal. We are not referring to the ridiculous people who say that “the protagonist is not sexy enough”, but to the controversy because Jabba would supposedly be on a mission exclusive to the most expensive editions of Star Wars Outlaws.
For quite some years now there has been the ugly tradition of putting exclusive content from the season pass of the ‘deluxe’ or collector’s versions of the games. Sometimes this cannot even be obtained as a standalone DLC. It’s annoying enough when it happens with cosmetic items, but for it to happen with missions or playable content is inexcusable.
Ubisoft has been doing this for quite some time, but the case of Star Wars Outlaws It became controversial because it would supposedly put a character as important to the saga as Jabba behind an extra cost.
But in reality it won’t be exactly like that.
In communication with IGN, Ubisoft denied that we would only find Jabba if we bought the most expensive editions. A company representative explained that “Jabba and the Hutts cartel are one of the main syndicates in the game and will be part of the experience for anyone who purchases the game regardless of which edition”
The exclusive mission of the most expensive editions is related to Jabba and the Hutts, but it will not be the only one in which these characters will appear.
It’s good to know that we can find Jabba even if we don’t pay extra for an edition of Star Wars Outlaws that includes the season pass. Even so, the practice of ‘deluxe’ editions with exclusive content within the game deserves to continue being criticized.
Star Wars Outlaws will go on sale on Friday August 30, 2024. The platforms for which it will be available will be PS5, Xbox Series X|S y PC.
