Two new Masterminds join the Resident Evil Resistance team, bringing their own distinctive form of fear to the asymmetrical horror survivor as they try to stop the survivors from escaping. We got some new insights from Alex Wesker and Ozwell Spencer, who joined the new series Daniel Fabron and the very famous Annette Birkin.
Alex Wesker
For those of you who have played Resident Evil Revelations 2, you may know the name Alex Wesker, so that it will not be confused with Albert Wesker. They both share the last name, but how they achieve their goals will be very different. Alex is inclined to choose specific ways to achieve his goals, focusing his studies on mind-altering activities and tests that make him well suited for his role as Mastermind. In fact, it was Tim Turi himself of the igamesnews who asked the team after the game why they chose to add Alex.
Peter Fabiano, Manufacturer of Resident Evil Resistance and Resident Evil 3, explains:
"Judging by the way Alex was portrayed over the years and in Resident Evil Revelations 2, it made sense to include him as Mastermind. He is the first character we thought of when he came up with Masterminds. In fact, in Revelation 2, he performed his experiments in which he mocked his subjects with voice breaks. in the same way as Masterminds in Resistance, which makes him a perfect candidate. ”
As you might have guessed, Alex's playstyle is all about hypocrisy, which makes him a good choice for those who prefer a more indirect approach to super power. By focusing more on traps than other Masterminds, Alex can influence the formation of the stage to catch Survivors alert or force them to face road obstacles as they advance zombies and other creatures. It plays on these themes, with the most vicious bioweapon he has: Yateveo.
We'll kick it back to Tim for a moment, who asked the team how to decide on a plant-supported beast for Alex, given the long history of plant-based creatures in previous games. Peter says this about Yateveo:
"You have a few plant-based enemies in the Resident Evil series. 42, Ivy, and the Huge Plant from exploding games, for example. Yateveo doesn't take direct influence on any of them – or maybe act indirectly on all of them – but we thought that it would be fun for Mastermind to use a one-dimensional creature. This would add a layer to how Mastersminds can play. ”
It may seem strange to have a strong bioweapon that stays firmly in place, but if you look at the Yateveo root, you'll understand how lethal a plant can be – especially if it blocks the vital purpose of survivors.
Let's move on to our next Mastermind….
Ozwell E. Spencer
Unknown to Umbrella itself, Ozwell is one of the company's founders who refuses to deal with his death while forcing others to deal with their own. With Resistance being the endless canon entry in the Resident Evil series, the team behind the game managed to leisurely enliven its status as a Mastermind. They decided to return to the long series and the characters with little time in the spotlight. Here's Peter on the subject:
"Ozwell has been a controversial figure in the Resident Evil series, so we thought it would be fun to bring in dad of all kinds of bioweapons and Umbrella himself. We didn't really see him before Resident Evil 5, and this gave us a chance to entertain and make him a playable character – even if only for Mastermind cameras. ”
Deeply impressed by Alex's mutation reports that give him superhuman abilities without altering the physical appearance of the subject, Ozwell decides to take a more direct approach. With the latest and greatest help from Umbrella technology, the founder of Umbrella is ready to present the scary stuff to Survivors.
If you are familiar with some of the Masterminds mentioned earlier, you will know that Annette Birkin can summon the reformed G-Birkin to an outrage, while the newcomer Daniel Fabron calls on the great Transistor to destroy the Survivors and paste it. Unlike other Masterminds, Ozwell doesn't have a flexible bioweapon. Instead, he uses the cutting edge technology of the Umbrella to create a Divide Field that causes serious damage to any fool who is foolish enough to get through it. Tim asked about this unique ability by comparing it to other Masterminds.
Here is what Peter said on behalf of the dev team:
“Spencer is the kind of Mastermind who always lies in the shadows, letting others do his dirty work. We decided that instead of directly controlling the bioweapon as his signature ability, we wanted to do something indirectly. With a large part of his tools looking at ways to delay and redirect Survivors and reduce their remaining time, we thought Disintegration Field would fare well.
"The cooldown is much shorter than the other bioweapons, and it only harms the Anosinda – the creatures he puts in are not affected. , slowly but steadily the Survivors. ”
And there you have it! You will be able to manage your tests from the Mastermind chair in just a few weeks with Resident Evil Resistance, which is included with Resident Evil 3 in a PlayStation 4 release on April 3, 2020.
