The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have announced a new agreement with Paramount to launch dozens of audiovisual productions of the franchise. In addition, they have renewed for a season for South Park, so the humorous series is going from strength to strength.
And if that was not enough, Bloomberg has revealed that the creators also plan to establish their own video game studio. The idea is to develop and launch a South Park game with a 3D perspective, an idea that is not new, but it is certainly new compared to the last two titles in the series.
Continued the wake
South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole were released in 2014 and 2017 respectively. The first was run by South Park Digital Studios and Obsidian Entertainment, while the second was Ubisoft that helped develop the title. In addition, the French developer published both, while now there is no information regarding their participation.
This does not mean that Ubisoft is not going to get involved, but the truth is that the rumors for now only indicate the close work of the creators of the series. They both write the South Park episodes and also the games, so at least they will repeat themselves in this new game.
The last two titles published by Ubisoft received rave reviews and were turn-based attack RPGs. We will have to wait to confirm the rumors that Bloomberg shared and see if indeed both creators will work alone to carry out this project.
