Netflix is increasing prices in Europey. From January 14th, new customers of the streaming provider will pay more for the two higher-quality tariffs “Standard” and “Premium”. The “basic” tariff, on the other hand, remains excluded from the increase.
The good news for existing customers: Although here too an adjustment to the new prices will follow, the changeover will only take place within the next few months. Users will be informed one month in advance. Until then, everything will stay the same for existing customers.
We’ll show you what the new pricing for new customers looks like:
- Basic rate (SD quality, 1 device): 7.99 dollars
- Standard (HD quality, 2 devices): 12.99 instead of 11.99 dollars
- Premium (4K quality, HDR, Dolby Atmos, 4 devices): 17.99 instead of 15.99 dollars
The price increase at Netflix in Europey particularly affects users who have a 4K television and want to watch films and series in the highest possible resolution. Customers who share their Netflix account, be it within a household or beyond, are also asked to pay.
Sensible investments planned
As a Netflix spokesman told the dpa AFX news agency, the increased prices will also be used to expand the range of programs in the future. Europe users should look forward to new productions:
“We change prices from time to time to keep investing in great entertainment and to keep adding to our portfolio of films and series. […] In the past two years, in addition to international productions, we have also massively increased our investments in Europe-speaking countries. “
Netflix subscriptions can be adjusted at any time, so customers can switch tariffs as required. The subscription can also be canceled on a monthly basis.
