CD Projekt Red suffered a data breach.
This morning, Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 developers CD Projekt redIt is revealed that its internal system has been compromised by hackers.
According to the instructions posted to Twitter, this was discovered yesterday. CD Projekt Red said that hackers used “certain data” to prove this and encrypted certain drives in the studio’s network to allow them to discover their notes to discuss the ransom.
Although the studio did manage to restore some encrypted drives from backups, it could not prevent hackers from selling or leaking the information they obtained. However, CD Projekt Red has contacted partners who may be affected to mitigate the loss.
Having said that, no user’s personal data has been compromised. The studio also posted instructions left by the hacker on Twitter, and the dump contained the source code of Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Gwent, and “The Unreleased Version of The Witcher 3.” The hacker also claimed to have access to accounting, human resources, management and legal documents.
CDPR wrote: “We will not yield to demands, nor will we negotiate with actors, and we must be aware that this may eventually lead to the disclosure of the leaked data,”
