Borderlands 3 will have crossover play, except for PlayStation

The players of Borderlands 3 received news that they have been waiting for some time: finally the title will feature cross game. To the sadness of many, this was not the only news that Randy Pitchford gave through your Twitter account.

The president of Gearbox announced that the upgrade which will allow users of different platforms to play with each other through multiplayer. However, the players of PlayStation

they will not have access to this service. According to the tweet, the editor of Borderlands 3, 2K Games, requested that cross-game compatibility not be available for Sony consoles.

At the moment, 2K Games has not commented on the matter and there are no details that explain why the PlayStation family is left out of cross-play support. The decision is likely related to some of the documents presented in the Epic v Apple trial

. In the more than 4,500 pages of evidence presented in the trial, it was revealed that the clauses that Sony imposes so that the studios can enable cross-play on their platforms include compensation for SIE.

Although PS4 and PS5 are, for now, outside this support, Borderlands 3 will feature cross-play for Stadia, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
