News business Ubisoft prioritizes its carbon footprint beyond the gender diversity of its teams
Following its financial report, Ubisoft publishes a 31-page document detailing the compensation of its board of directors. We also learn that the company is prioritizing its carbon footprint beyond the diversity of its teams.
If the closing period for the past financial year has just ended, another ball continues: that of the remuneration of the executive board. In fact, every public company is required to disclose the compensation of its CEOs. If a month ago we learned the astronomical salary of Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, today it is that of Ubisoft executives who are highlighted. You can see that Yves Guillemot paid out 1.03 million dollars this year (salary + bonus included). That is 21% more than the average salary of an employee and 27% more than the median salary
If this document shares the salaries paid out, we learn more about the goals of Ubisoft and the compensation paid in the event of success. These bonus payments are “Thoughts to promote the successful execution of the business plan every yearThere are two types: one is paid only to the CEO (Yves Guillemot), while the second is paid to the CEO, but also to the CEOs.
The company therefore wants to improve the quality of life in the workplace by 2022. An initiative that justifies it with the events of last summer. In June last year, Liberation published an investigation that uncovered cases of harassment at Ubisoft and a toxic corporate culture. The following month, Serge Hascoët (group creative director) and Cécile Cornet, president of global human resources, were fired from Guillemot.
The social context of summer 2020 has shown how important it is to strengthen respect and quality of life for teams at work. The Group has therefore drawn up an action plan with a number of initiatives that specifically respond to the situation and ensure a more inclusive work environment for all employees. The Board selected an indicator to assess the implementation of this action plan, which has three main axes: listening teams, training managers and employees in “respect at work”, and evaluating employees for the exemplary nature of their behavior.
In a second step we can determine that there are no more compensation related Increasing gender diversity in teams‘: for the financial year 2022, they are allocated according to the company’s environmental responsibility efforts. In fact, Ubisoft estimates it met its goal of 24% women in the company. It was 22% in 2020, indicating that it gained 1.5 points in fiscal 2020-2021. Ubisoft has therefore decided to do soreduce the environmental impact and want to reach them CO2 neutrality by 2030. To this end, five lines of action were proposed by the Board of Directors:
- Achieve 100% renewable energy (73.5% in 2020)
- Cut business trips by at least 20%
- Extend the service life of technological devices by one to two years and align purchasing processes with a lower CO2 supply
- Streamlining the power consumption of Ubisoft by better adapting the websites to new ways of working
- Reach 68% of units sold digitally (48% in 2019)
However, a representative from Ubisoft told Axios that “Gender diversity remained a priority“and that this bonus payment could come back in 2023”.
