Details of a new video game-based series destined for Netflix have reportedly been leaked. The new unconfirmed proposal could be an adaptation of the game ‘Dishonored’ by Arkane Studios and Bethesda.
Like Netflix, in recent years time and resources have been invested in making adaptations of popular video games such as ‘The Last of Us’, ‘The Witcher’, ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ and now, if the rumors are true, it’s the turn of ‘Dishonored’.
Dishonored, now owned by Xbox, is an adventure series that debuted in 2012. It featured a sequel for 2016 and released an expansion titled Dishonored: Death of the Outsider in 2017.
Now, although we do not believe that this news is accompanied by a new video game, ‘Dishonored’ could continue with its own series, or film, destined to be part of the streaming giant’s productions.
While every ‘Dishonored’ game has garnered rave reviews, the real question is: why would Netflix be interested? Let’s see, it is not a franchise recognized as ‘The Last of Us’ or the same ‘The Witcher’, so we have doubts.
Of course, rumors are never accompanied by extensive details, so any plot or intent “reveal” is unknown. Neither party, nor Xbox or Netflix, have commented on the matter.
However, Netflix could be looking for a way to position itself in the segment, especially with the second season of ‘The Witcher’ on the way, and its competitors preparing other great adaptations such as ‘Lord of the Rings’ on Amazon, despite the fact that this is not a video game.
Be that as it may, we are sure that if it is true, the negotiation between Netflix and Xbox will not only go so far. For this reason, we consider that a great deal is looming and that the rumors are only a hint of the possibilities for the small screen.
