Last week, God of War (2018) ended its longstanding PlayStation exclusivity with a splashy release on PC. Critics praised him at the revamped look of the port and found it a good excuse to return to one of the the true masterpieces of the last generation of consoles. But now that it’s a week out, what does the general public think?

No surprise here, but gamers mostly love it God of Warthe PC version. On Steam, a whopping 97 percent of the 13,000+ reviews are marked positive (as of this writing). Quite a few of these come from folks clamoring for a PC release bloodborne
Much praise focused on visual improvements, allowing for ultrawide support, 1440p resolution, and frame rates well in excess of 30fps God of War ran on the base PlayStation 4. Others noted that unlike some PC ports God of War just… works. And a handful of people were over the moon with what this port proposes to platform agnostics, noting how enlightening it feels to play God of War (historically a PlayStation thing) with an Xbox controller (historically an Xbox thing) on the PC (once not even invited to the party).
Newcomers, on the other hand, fell in love with everything we fell in love four years ago: the story steeped in Norse mythology, the weighty ax throwing, the gradually thawing coldness between Kratos and his son in the face of a well-written relationship that foreshadowed a long overdue maturation for storytelling in games, and the cinematic -shot camera .
Of the handful who actually wrote negative reviews, many focused on “negative mouse acceleration,” meaning the cursor moves less real estate on the screen the faster you move it, although comments in response suggest these gamers are trying to play with a controller. These ratings go hand in hand with more general complaints of bugs like crashes and framerate drops.
