Yesterday, Fall Guys did something that many of us have been wishing them to do. Mediatonic’s clunky game is free to play, comes to Xbox and Nintendo Switch, and introduces cross-platform play. This is a big move for the title, which seems to have a ton of fans waiting for this day.
Sadly, the launch wasn’t without problems. It took me about 40 minutes to sit on an eternal loading screen before realizing something was up, and sure enough, Fall Guys had shared on Twitter that a server issue was in progress.

The problems didn’t stop there, however, and custom lobbies were temporarily disabled shortly after public matchmaking became unavailable. The Fall Guys update was despised by a lot of people, with people complaining that the team was clearly not well-prepared and that they screwed up their release.
Needless to say, if Fall Guys’ tweet is anything to go by, Mediatonic never seemed to have expected so many people to jump into the game when it was free.

As of now, the server issue appears to be largely fixed. It’s still early days, and as the Mediatonic hardcore comes to an end, there are sure to be more initial issues, but players should be able to dive into the chaotic battle royale with no issues.
