It’s no secret that Google wants to expand its Pixel brand, and 2023 will be the key to that. In addition to the next generation of the classic Pixel, we expect new devices like a foldable mobile.

The first rumors of this Pixel Fold indicated that Google could benefit from its alliance with Samsung, by launching what would be at the base a Galaxy Z Fold 4 but with the Pixel brand and cameras.
The Pixel Fold would be different on this point
However, the Pixel Fold leak published today, a few months after its supposed launch, indicates the opposite: that it will be a different device from Samsung’s flagship model; although that doesn’t mean it doesn’t use the same flexible screen technology from the Korean manufacturer.
The crucial aspect that OnLeaks and Howtoisolve revealed is in the screen aspect ratio: The Pixel Fold would be more square, both closed and open, which would result in a very different mobile in hand.
For several generations, Samsung has opted for a larger aspect ratio for its Z Fold foldable phone. The logic is that the internal screen, the foldable one, had to have an adequate proportion to enjoy multimedia content and enjoy multitasking. However, this has the disadvantage that the external screen is very tall and narrow compared to that of a classic mobile, which has been criticized.
Instead, it seems that Google prefers not to sacrifice the experience so much with the closed mobile, with an external screen that is wider than that of the Z Fold and therefore easier to use. The closed Pixel Fold experience should be very similar to a normal Pixel mobile, and the open mobile experience will be similar to an Android tablet; for example, the future Pixel tablet. The Pixel Fold would be more similar to the Oppo Find N in this regard.
Of course, being a Pixel, the cameras will be of great importance, and everything indicates that they will be the same as the Pixel 7 Pro, with three sensors that will be capable of the same “magic” with Google’s algorithms; this is so because it would also use the same processor, the Tensor G2. What would be different is the design of the camera array, which would be in an “island” that protrudes from the rest of the rear instead of a “strip” that runs from side to side. other as in the latest Pixels.
The Google Pixel Fold would hit the market in May 2023and will join the Pixel 7a and the aforementioned Pixel tablet.
