Aliens Dark Descent will be the next big game in the famous sci-fi series. The game is finally outdated and should surprise.
The alien license and the video game don’t always go well together. If we already had excellent games, such as Alien VS Predator (1999 and its sequel AVP 2 in 2001) or Alien Isolation, we also had the right to very average adaptations, even very bad games like Aliens vs. Predator (2010) or Aliens Colonial Marines by Ge arbox.
Recently, Cold Iron Studios brought the license back to consoles and PC with honest-to-goodness Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Alien isn’t, therefore, a franchise alien to video games, but its adaptations blow hot and cold. Soon the series will try to assert itself again with a brand new game, this time tactical.
A new Aliens game is on the way!
After the FPS, the TPS or the strategy game (RTS), Aliens goes through the real-time tactics box with Aliens Dark Descent. Developed by Tindalos Interactive (Battlefeet Gothic Armada 1 & 2), the game will put us in control of a unit of marines who must investigate an infestation of xenomorphs and the trade with the notorious Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Far from the shooters already released, Alien’s Dark Descent prefers an approach between tactical and real-time strategy games. You control a squad in which each member has special abilities and you have to make your way through different environments by destroying all threats. The studio also claims that when we come across androids and subspecies of Xenormorphs already known to the franchise (drones, warriors, protheans, etc.), other subspecies and new creatures have been created for the occasion. Something to surprise fans of the franchise.

At the same time, a new Alien film is currently in preparation. Formerly known as Code RomulusThe feature film is directed by a rising star of horror cinema, who is admired as well as criticized. This is the director Fede Álvarez, to whom we owe above all the very gory remakeevil Dead in 2013 or even the bloody chainsaw massacre (Netflix, 2022). Unlike the series, the film is supposed to promise a little carnage. The feature film was supposed to focus on a group of young people lost on an uncharted planet who will try to survive against local xenomorphs. A pitch unsurprising for the genre but unprecedented for the franchise.
