After many years in development hell they are stuck Five nights at Freddy’s The film is finally out and we now have the proof: the first teaser trailer.
The film seems to stick closely to the looks, tone, and even mechanics of the viral horror video game series it’s based on, in which players must survive the night in a seedy pizza restaurant full of murderous animatronic mascots.
No wonder it’s so faithful—game series creator Scott Cawthon wrote and produced the film, which is directed by Emma Tammi and co-produced by horror impresario Jason Blum and his label, Blumhouse Productions. Cawthon’s insistence on getting the script to his satisfaction had reportedly led to several previous film attempts Five nights at Freddy’s
In the film, Josh Hutcherson (who played Peeta in The Hunger Games) plays a security guard who works the night shift at a long-abandoned Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Observant viewers will also catch a glimpse of the great Matthew Lillard, who was so unsettling Twin Peaks: The Return, looking a bit sinister behind a desk. I shudder when I think about what he’s up to in this film. The animatronic characters are created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
Five nights at Freddy’s will hit theaters simultaneously and stream on Peacock on October 27th, just in time for Halloween.
