As part of the PlayStation Showcase, Sony announced Project Q, a PS5 handheld this week. A well-known insider is now bringing a possible release period for the new hardware into play.
There were already leaks and speculations about Project Q in advance, which should finally come true this week. In short: Sony is actually working on a handheld device for the PlayStation 5, which, unlike the earlier PS Vita, does not work independently but uses the home console’s remote play feature.
Before the official announcement as part of a short teaser Insider Gaming around the insider Tom Henderson correctly reported about the device with an 8-inch display and the unique features of the DualSense wireless controller. So Henderson has hit the bull’s eye once again – and accordingly today’s news probably carries greater weight again.
Via Twitter the insider spoke up again after the official confirmation of the existence of Project Q and states that the PS5 streaming handheld will probably be released in mid to late November 2023 according to current planning. After he already reported on details of the handheld in April, there could be a lot more to this release info again.
Previously, Henderson had also correctly leaked technical details such as the 1080p resolution, a targeted frame rate of 60 fps and the design based on the DualSense. Until there is official confirmation of the release period he has mentioned, you should continue to classify it as a rumor.
