Do you love Kaijū and especially Godzilla? One of the best films of 2023 has a crazy announcement to make that should please many viewers.
Godzilla is one of the sacred monsters of cinema, born in the 1950s in Japan, the land of the Kaijū – these large, XXL-sized monsters. A gigantic creature that, in its original form, reflects the trauma of this territory regarding nuclear power. Sometimes nice, sometimes sassy, the giant lizard has now been made into an entertainment icon by the United States. With all that this entails with failures, the film by Roland Emmerich with Jean Reno, and successes such as the feature film by Gareth Edwards from 2014 or the recent episodes in which the reptile shares the poster with Kong. But Japan set the record straight a few weeks ago.
The Godzilla Minus One film is back in France
At the end of last year you probably heard about it Godzilla Minus One. It was one of the big event films in the cinema that almost never made it to us. Takashi Yamazaki’s film was a veritable tidal wave that disappointed few. On the rating aggregator Rotten Tomatoes it has a rating of 98% among press and viewers. The same feeling exists on IMDb with an excellent average of 8.4/10.
“Godzilla Minus One handles its shady themes with boldness and precision, in ideal balance with the spectacular nature of the saga.” Selon Mad Movies. “Godzilla Minus One is a refreshing, humanistic and nostalgic reboot of the franchise. It takes the nuclear lizard back to its postwar origins.”
A hit or almost, because the film has a serious flaw. That it only aired for two days in France. And maybe not everywhere. But given the enthusiasm and success, that will change in a few days.
Due to the extraordinary worldwide success, the enthusiasm of critics at the first screenings and at the request of fans, Piece of Magic Entertainment (POM), the film’s distributor in France and in more than 40 territories, decided to re-release the film in France Film Godzilla Minus One from January 17th to 31st, 2024.
Via press release.
Where can you see this blockbuster that challenges Hollywood?
The conditions to see Godzilla Minus One from January 17 to January 31, 2024 have not been set. However, it is possible that exclusivity with Pathé cinemas will remain for the 4DX experience in addition to a broadcast in more traditional cinemas. The 4DX is about seats that move according to the action on the screen and also send water, wind, etc. Apparently the feedback was excellent, but not for the price. For such a visit you can expect to pay much more than the usually charged 10-12 dollars. Of course it varies, but we’re closer to 15 dollars or more, so that can add up very quickly.
After this success, how about a sequel to Godzilla Minus One? Director Takashi Yamazaki imagines producing another feature film, but on the condition that this is met. Well considering the box it shouldn’t be too difficult but let’s see.
