There’s now a mod for The Witcher 3 that turns Geralt into a centaur, and having reinstalled the entire game just to try it out, I can confirm it’s the stuff of weird centaurs’ dreams

Well, this year REDkit has given The Witcher 3 modders the ability to do a lot of new stuff in the game, and the mod I’m about to tell you about may be the weirdest mod yet. Yes, even more than Gunter Odim in swimming trunks.

Modder errornoaccess’s “Geralt the Centaur” is something I came across on my Nexus and immediately started checking to see if I needed to uninstall anything to make room to re-paste TW3 onto my hard drive. Basically, what it says on the tin is that this is a mod that lets you blow a big horn, turning Geralt into a creature with his usual torso/head, but with a horse from the waist down Body – Inspired by some fun CD Projekt sticker art.

In practice, I’m sure it does exactly that, in a lovely rudimentary way that certainly brings a sense of freshness to wandering around the continent. From a role-playing perspective, the mod has some limitations, which is understandable, and Geralt’s regular human legs suddenly return when you start a proper conversation with an NPC or press the pause button, which also excludes Any centaur has sex with Yen, no matter how much she might like stuffed unicorns. That said, you can remain in horse form during battles with enemies, and the battle I encountered on the streets of Novigrad was a storm of hooves and sword swings.
