With Infinity Nikki, the 2024 gaming year apparently has one last surprise hit – the first download numbers after the release are currently going through the roof.
The year 2024 had some surprise hits that hardly anyone had previously had on their radar, such as Palworld or Helldivers 2. Infinity Nikki is now apparently joining the ranks, because as the developers have now announced, it was released on December 5th The game has already reached over ten million downloads across Android, iOS, PS5 and PC.
This is despite the fact that the game's website was hacked on launch day and displayed rather unpleasant content for 30-40 minutes. Apparently unplanned server maintenance also came up. But it doesn't seem to have deterred the curious fans.
Infinity Nikki is an open-world adventure game with gacha and dress-up elements developed by Infold Game and, based on the first figures, could become a serious competitor to titles like Genshin Impact. Infinity Nikki is the fifth part of the Nikki series.
In Infinity Nikki, players accompany the protagonist Nikki and her cat friend Momo on a journey through the magical Miraland to save a mystical wishing god. The game combines platforming, puzzles and exploration with an extensive outfit and dress-up system where different items of clothing grant special abilities.
The fact that it is a free-to-play title (albeit with plenty of monetization) shouldn't exactly be a hindrance to the high download numbers. It will now be interesting to see whether the number of players remains in these spheres or whether it is just a flash in the pan with little inventory.
Oh, before we forget: to mark the happy occasion, the game is offering a bonus of 10 Resonite Crystals as a gift for all players.
