Fans of PC role-playing games are in luck.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous it’s the kind of game you could play for years and never see the end of. Its complex mechanics, attractive combats and interesting story are combined to create a highly immersive experience, as long as you’re willing to spend some time learning to play. It can be hard to control, its depth and difficulty may scare those unaccustomed to the genre, but for veterans of PC RPGs (a genre that was once exclusive to the platform that gives it its name) look for a title like this- Ci on console, there is not much resemblance.
Set in the same universe as developer Owlcat Games’ previous Pathfinder: Kingmaker title, our first task in Wrath of the Righteous is character creation. With 25 base classes to choose from (and each with between four and six subclasses to further complicate matters), 13 prestige classes to aspire to and the possibility of making a thousand and one combinations, here we are faced with practically unlimited possibilities in the first minutes of play, which can scare even the most experienced player.
Set in the final days of a demonic apocalypse, The wrath of the righteous is in the nation of Mendev, a land that has been bled dry by a series of world plague invasions, a portal between reality and the demon realm, known as the Abyss. These wars are known as the Crusades and, by chance, fate will force us to fight the Fifth Crusade as Commander.
The game is the classic party-based RPG, in which you lead a party of six adventurers through this desolate world. Throughout the game, you’ll meet over ten companions, each with their own motivations and stories. Your decisions at key moments in the game carry weight and can affect a lot of things, so choose carefully, because even trusted friends can become bitter enemiesAnd not all are what they seem. Even franchise veterans Baldur’s Gate or the Pillars of Eternity You will find something different from what you have seen before.
In addition, we will have to lead the forces of the crusade, recruit and manage our forces and command them in turn-based combat against demonic armies. This can be time-consuming and sometimes a bit cumbersome, so here we’ll be able to automate this aspect to make it more user-friendly.
To be a computer role-playing game, Wrath of the Righteous plays great on Xbox consoles, all is said. The fact that a title like this can be mapped to a controller is magic in itself, with many menus linked to triggers and buttons that serve double duty. The game can be played on classic real-time with pause or real turn-based
Originally released on PC in September 2021Wrath of the Righteous on console boasts a year of fixes and improvements, though there are definitely still a few bugs. We experienced several crashes, but luckily the game saves frequently and can be quickly saved at any time, so we have to imagine this will be fixed with stability fixes. Improvements in this edition focus on UI, graphics and gameplay.
The visual section of the game is amazing. The world of Wrath of the Righteous is dark, but the visual effects of the game, full of details, as well as its good sound section, fit perfectly here. Production values are high across the board, even though this game started out as a Kickstarter project. Also note that the title It is fully translated into Spanish.
What really sets Wrath of the Righteous apart, however, is the Mythic Paths system, which, frankly, adds a ridiculous amount of replayability incentive to an already lengthy game (50 hours of main story, nearly 200 for the finalists). A mythic path is a direction your character can take to become a legend (there are ten of them). Take the side of the angels and protect humanity or embrace the abyss, follow the path of a demon and seek power for yourself. And so on with eight other different possibilities.
The depth it offers is sort of a double-edged sword. The sheer number of skills you can use to create your character can be a hindrance if you don’t know what you’re doing. Moreover, it is a very difficult game, even on normal difficulty, which can quickly become frustrating for many. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is one of those timeless games, like the legendary PC titles that came before it, like Baldur’s Gate, where you’ll find yourself coming back to it.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is an imprescindable game for those looking to truly get lost in a dark fantasy world where choices (both narrative and mechanical) matter. For the undecided, or for the uninitiated, think carefully if you want to get into a title of this type.
