Former employees of Immortals of Aveum have founded a new studio: Absurd Marin.
Absurd Marin is a new studio from the former creators of Immortals of Aveum. Around 20 employees are said to have left Ascendant Studios and founded Absurd Marin.
Absurd Ventures, the storytelling studio founded by Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games and former creative director and lead writer of the Frand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption and Bully video game series, today announced the formation of Absurd Marin, a new studio based in San Rafael, California, according to a press release.
Immortals of Aveum developers Ascendant Studios have joined forces with Absurd to form a new studio, Absurd Marin, which will be led by Ascendant Studios founder and game director Bret Robbins.
“Bret has assembled a highly talented, passionate team,” said Dan Houser. “We are thrilled to have them join forces with us and work together on one of our original new titles.”
Absurd Ventures has already announced that it is in early development on a video game set in the A Better Paradise universe. Absurd Marin will be working on a separate action-adventure title set in a different, yet-to-be-announced Absurd universe. Further details on Absurd Ventures’ video game projects are currently under wraps as the teams are still in early development.
“We love the focus on storytelling and world building at Absurd Ventures,” says Bret Robbins. “We’re thrilled to be joining forces and bringing our combined expertise to an original game set in an incredibly fun new universe.”
It remains unclear what impact this step will have on Ascendant Studios and whether this studio will now have to be closed.
