Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur expansion unveiled during GGG Live Event
During a Path of Exile livestream, “GGG Live,” developer Grinding Gear Games revealed first details about Path of Exile Update 3.25, Settlers of Kalguur.
The July expansion introduces the Settlers of Kalguur Challenge League, balance improvements including two changes to the Ascendancy classes, endgame improvements, further additions to the campaign, and a variety of Quality of Life improvements for PC and console players. Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur will be released on July 26 at 10 p.m.
In the Settlers of Kalguur-Challenge League, players help the Kalguurian pioneers build the city of Kingsmarch and establish trade between Wraeclast and their homeland.
Players can mine exotic resources, hire and protect skilled workers to build and defend the city, and build a port to flourish and manage trade.
Once the city is built and trade is underway, they can buy and sell currency and other stackable items on the foreign exchange market and craft and recombine powerful weapons and items at the runesmithing table.
The Ascendancy classes are getting a refresh with the new Warden class and the Gladiator rework. Warden replaces the Huntress class and focuses on elemental attacks, damage control, and a specialization in tinctures that can now be found throughout the land.
The Gladiator class retains the powerful Bleed and Block skills, but also gains redesigned skills, including the ability to invest in Retaliation Skills, a new type of skill that can deal devastating damage when certain conditions are met in combat.
Settlers of Kalguur will implement a long list of balancing work, including changes to melee skills, block, rage, warcries, banners, bleed, and impale. It will also add new base types to the endgame, implement improved modifiers on endgame items, improve critical strike chances on weapons, and much more.
Endgame content has been addressed with changes to many scarabs, a 6th map device slot, new encounters in Tier 16 and Tier 17 maps, updates to Brand and Ritual, and much more. There will also be a number of new chisel types and a massive increase to the drop rate of Valdos Puzzle Chests.
Path of Exile players on consoles will be pleased to know that the game now takes full advantage of the PS5 and Xbox hardware, with loading times and texture popping significantly reduced.
Overall, visual fidelity has been improved through the highest possible resolution of textures and water effects, a new upscaling algorithm that improves the sharpness of the dynamic resolution, and an additional anti-aliasing pass.
Grinding Gear Games announces that they will soon be conducting the first closed beta test for their upcoming sequel, Path of Exile 2. To be considered for participation in this and future tests, interested parties can register at www.pathofexile2.com/register register.
