If Google replaces Bard with Gemini, Microsoft goes hand in hand to leave Bing aside a little and give greater importance to Copilot. Today the company commanded by Satya Nadella announced the overhaul of its AI-powered Copilot search engine and chatbot experience (known as Bing Chat).
They were also included new features for creating and editing images generated with artificial intelligence and a new AI model, called Deucalion and responsible for providing a new, more rewarding experience to a version of Copilot. In short, it’s an excellent update that Microsoft is bringing to continue to fully evolve.
The first thing that stands out is the clearest and most minimalist design of the Copilot page so that the experience improves qualitatively. The idea is to enlarge empty spaces and reduce the presence of text. Where the focus is on the cards that pass through a carousel and show the different images generated with the AI with the instructions
This new Copilot, more visual and intuitive with an improved user experience, is now available in Europe both in its web version and in the Android and iOS applications. It is accessible from copilot.microsoft.com and finds that at first glance it is more intuitive and with a design that moves away from that previous, more boring experience. In fact, the moment you chat with the chatbot, the texts are completely integrated into the light gray tone of the entire page interface, so the chatbot and user icons are actually the ones that identify each text field .
The new AI image generator
The new AI image generation features are not yet available in Europe, as so far they have only arrived in English in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, India and New Zealand . It’s unclear when Microsoft plans to release them, so you just need to have a little patience to try them out.
And this is perhaps one of the most notable arrivals of this major update, as it is now integrated into Copilot to be powered by the Designer AI generator, similar to the artificial intelligence model for generating DALL-E3 images from OpenAI introduced in ChatGPT; which, by the way, already adds watermarks to identify an image that was not generated by a person. Of course, Designer AI holds the DALL-E 3 engine
Deucalion, the new AI model
Another important aspect of today’s announcement is the arrival of a new AI model under a version of Copilot: Deucalion. Jordi Ribas, corporate vice president of Microsoft and head of engineering for Copilot and Bing, comments that this model was launched to be a more optimized one that makes the mode experience Balance be more enriching and faster.

In this case Balance refers to the intermediate category of results that Copilot can produce. In fact, users can choose between modes Creative, Balanced or Precise
- Creative mode is more effective for requests and projects related to writing, design or construction of fictional worlds.
- Precise and balanced modes They are dedicated to projects related to school/university or professional work.
- Balanced mode It is the one with the best balance between creativity and precision, so for all general queries, it is the recommended one.
For now, according to Adventure Beatthe major linguistic model used for Deucalion is unknown, because Information shared by Microsoft is very rare. It seems that the responses to queries are longer and better, just as his skills in translating texts have increased.
A final point of the update is that Microsoft is now giving more importance to Copilot for leave Bing Chat aside for a bit; perhaps to uproot itself from the relationship it has with this name as an old search engine, and thus adopt Copilot as the axis of the new experiences that Microsoft offers from its search engine or from Windows itself ; Moreover, as Yusuf Medhi, executive vice president and head of consumer marketing, maintains, 70% of chats on Copilot are used for research.
