Apple TV+ abandons one of its most ambitious projects!
Live sports streaming is one of the categories that Apple TV+ decided to revamp this year. After consolidating agreements with Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer, closing the deal to take over nfl rights seemed to be next. However, after months of negotiations those of the bitten apple will not consolidate the agreement.
According to the report published by analyst Dylan Byers, Apple did not accept some of the limitations of the contract and preferred to forget this agreement, at least in the next few years.
Apple won’t own the rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket
NFL Sunday Ticket is a sports package that broadcasts NFL regular season games every week. Currently, DirecTV sells the package with packages ranging from $290 to $400 per season. Yet DirecTV’s decision not to renew the license for which it pays around $1.5 billion a year has been known for months.
However, the renewal of the agreement includes certain limitations such as the absence of international rightsgeographic breakdowns and a mandatory minimum subscription price so that the NFL don’t cannibalize your existing broadcast deals with CBS and Fox.
But after compare Apple’s partnership deal with Major League Soccer
With Apple out of the game, Amazon, Google (YouTube) and others could become the new partner of the sports packagewhich, although it clearly requires more investment, is also on a much more popular scale than the NFL.
