The new anti-theft protection would be designed for Mac Studio.
Do you remember when we told you that a user received Mac Studio by mistake even though it was a few days before its official launch? Thanks to this, we could see the first pictures of the computer published by a buyer, although there is one detail that caught our attention: the strange hole similar to a USB-C input in the upper left corner of the device
This input is not intended for charging or connecting an external device. In reality, it’s very similar to the security slots we saw on Mac a few years ago. For this reason, rumors are circulating on the Internet that the hole is for an anti-theft accessory that Apple is developing for the Mac Studio.
An anti-theft accessory for Mac Studio that Apple is developing
igamesnews reported that this small hole could be used for an anti-theft device being developed for Mac Studio. The web showed a leaked memowhere you can read that Apple would create a “blocking adapter”whose main function would be to ensure the physical security of the computer.
In other words, what Apple would develop a lock to prevent the theft of Mac Studio on the site where the user installed it. It’s still unclear how it would work, but it’s possible it uses a heavy-duty steel cable, similar to other computer protections you can buy on the internet.
The idea is not new since Apple had developed a similar security system for certain iMac models.
Anti-theft accessory for Mac Studio could launch in the second half of 2022but we still don’t know its price, its operation and the technologies that Apple would implement for the protection of your new computer.
It would be interesting to know if this lock would also protect the 27-inch Apple Studio Display, in order to offer the user complete protection for their new ecosystem.
