News culture After the $1.5 billion film Vice-Versa 2 in theaters, Pixar returns to Disney+ with this animated series, scheduled for late 2024
If you are not satisfied with Pixar’s production of Vice-Versa 2, then keep your ears open. The studio is preparing its first-ever series and it will soon be released on Disney+.
As usual, we were able to discover a lot at D23 – the event where Disney presents all its new releases: from Star Wars to Marvel, including the latest animated films from the big-eared company. And on that last point, Pixar was of course there. In addition to a few tidbits about Toy Story 5, The studio presented its very first series “Win or Lose” in pictures.
One episode per character
Win or Lose tells the story of eight middle school students preparing for their big softball game
We also know the name of one of the episodes (presented at the Annecy Festival 2023): “Vanessa: The Cool Mom”. An episode about a mother trying to make ends meet while her daughter is not doing better. The initial feedback is very positive – and as usual, Pixar mixes human disappointments, humor and animation with creativity. “Win or Lose” is written and produced by studio artists Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates.
A long pregnancy
If this is your first time hearing about the project, you know it has been in the works for quite some time. Disney already talked about it in 2020 and announced a release in late 2023. It’s not entirely clear what caused this delay. Hobson and Yates may have been brought in as reinforcements for Vice Versa 2, the latest bombshell from the Pixar studio. As a reminder, the film recently crossed the $1.5 billion mark worldwide, becoming the most profitable animated film in history (ahead of Frozen 2).
