As phones evolved from indestructible Nokia-shaped building blocks to powerful pocket-sized pieces of magic, so did the mobile game. Playing games like Temple Run or Fruit Ninja used to be a great way to pass the time on your way to school or work, then sneak out to play Bloons Tower Defense during your lunch break. Navigating the App Store is a chore these days, wrestling your way through countless mid-game titles, most of which feature annoying pop-up ads or intrusive monetization tactics. That’s it.
With all of this in mind, there are still some games in the App Store that are well worth your time, and apple arcade Back in 2019, we took a big step forward in curating the best of the best. For a small subscription fee (£5 per month), Apple Arcade gives me access to a separate section of the App Store that’s home to ad-free games – many of which are of impeccable quality – and some that I Nice to see the game.
You can also play these games on your Apple TV, or use the real controllers that are close to you. Mobile gaming is no longer limited to these devices, but just as a tool to help people craft their own gaming experience; ignoring the plethora of gacha clones, mobile gaming is something more of us should be passionate about. Apple Arcade is an important step in overhauling the image of mobile gaming.
It’s a shame that good games are once again locked behind a subscription service, but – as a side note – don’t feel like you need to commit. You can enjoy a one-month free trial to see which games meet your needs, many of which you can then purchase individually on the App Store.This means that if you find that you can’t put something like Survive Z or goodbye wild heart but don’t want to pay a monthly subscription fee for them, you can buy them directly on the App Store and use them forever.
Rather than seeing Apple Arcade as another subscription to add to the long list of services, along with Netflix, Amazon Prime, PS+, Game Pass, HBO Max, and others, I see it as a temporary way to discover new games. Oh my gosh, I’ve discovered (and rediscovered!) a lot of great mobile games.
In the ever-growing library of Apple Arcade games, quality is rarely compromised to support monetization strategies, and these games are truly a joy to experience.Throughout the catalog you’ll find revived versions of timeless classics (that’s why I mentioned Temple Run and fruit Ninja earlier).However, you’ll also find games from other platforms that can be easily accessed from your phone or iPad, such as Goat Simulator+, dead cells+and even Football Manager 2023 Touch. As you’d expect, some of these are obviously tweaked to better support mobile platforms, but they’re still the full experience!

I spend my time playing games that I might otherwise brush up on Steam or the Nintendo Switch Store simply because I have access to them for free (or at least, it feels like the lowest cost given how much I play). Not only does Apple Arcade make big-name titles accessible to those who don’t already have access to a console or PC, but it also sheds light on smaller, fancier titles. I never got around to actually playing wild animal puzzle sims, nutor into confusion What is golf? There is no need to sign up for Apple Arcade.well maybe i’ll play What is golf? At some point, but still.
After my brief bout of burnout, Apple Arcade has definitely helped me rediscover my love for games without constantly feeling like I’m playing them. That’s the beauty, and the curse, of mobile gaming. It feels effortless, which means you can also easily devote hours to feeding your Apple Arcade vampires. In a time when searching for a decent mobile game in the App Store felt endless and fruitless, Apple Arcade curated some of the funniest games around. Of course, this is all for Apple’s benefit, but I can’t deny that I also benefit from the service. correct? correct! ?
