The ’80s seem to be repeating themselves again, as Apple has finally confirmed a release date for the TV adaptation of Time Bandits.
Look, I get it, for some of you the ’80s were an interesting decade that reshaped pop culture, but for people who weren’t even born at the time, seeing the nostalgia of it or Reboots of that era are just starting to feel a bit cliche. But now, let’s look at Apple’s announcement that its “first TV adaptation of the cult classic” Time Thieves will finally be released on July 24th. The series will of course be streaming on the hardware and software maker’s Apple TV+, so if you’re interested in checking out the remake, you’ll have to add another subscription to your list. The series also stars Flight of the Conchords’ Jermaine Clement, The Inbetweeners’ Iain Morris and Our Flag Means Death’s Taika Waititi, so it’s likely to be at least a little funny.

Apple described the show in a press release: “Led by Lisa Kudrow, this eccentric band of bandits embark on an epic adventure as evil forces threaten their conquests and everything they know. life. As the gang travels back in time, the gang stumbles across fascinating worlds of the distant past while searching for treasure, relying on Kevin to uncover each situation as the time bandits witness the formation of Stonehenge. By the time the Trojans came into action, dinosaurs had escaped from prehistoric times and wreaked havoc during the medieval period. , experience the Ice Age, ancient civilizations, the Harlem Renaissance and more along the way. ”
There are a few issues with the series that are worth noting, though. First, the show has been criticized by actors with dwarfism because in the original film, the main cast was mostly made up of actors with dwarfism, including R2-D2 himself, Kenny Baker, which is not the case with this new series. On top of that, one of the actors, Charlene Yi (Steven Universe), claimed that they were attacked on the set of Time Bandits, so if you do want to check out the show, take all of this into consideration.
