Maverick Games, the new studio from the creators of Forza Horizon 5
The news just came! Several Playground Games developers, namely the studio behind Forza Horizon 5 and the Fable reboot, have left their homes to start a brand new one: Maverick Games. Among these departures are several heads of the successful motorized saga: Mike Brown, who was the creative director, but also Tom Butcher, main producer of Playground Games, or Matt Craven (technical director), Gareth Harwood and Ben Penrose (artistic directors) and Fraser Stachan (Audio Director).
While this news is very recent, note that Maverick Games is already working on a “premium open world game” for consoles and PC thanks to raising “significant” funding.
For gamers we are already working hard on an exciting title of the highest quality, and for developers we are building a home where everyone is encouraged to take risks, be curious, creative, innovate and most importantly be yourself, an outsider. Maverick Games via a press release

Some of the things I’ve seen are very encouraging. They have an excellent technological base and have demonstrated their commitment to producing quality products. Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios
