Before We Leave – gameplay from the interplanetary city building game
With Before We Leave appears on May 8, 2020 a new building strategy game in the Epic Store. Similar to Civilization, we have to lead our people to new sizes.
The basic structure with hex fields also evokes memories of the successful 4X brand. We play at Before We Leave not turn-based, but in real time with the possibility to pause. In addition, the focus is a bit larger.
This is how Before We Leave plays
Working up from the bottom: We lead our people from their hiding place deep underground first to the surface and later even to other planets, which we connect to form a system-wide colony network. The story initially leaves open what catastrophic circumstances that led us to have to retreat underground.
Uncover story during the game: Perhaps even the ancient guardians of the world have to do with our surface exodus. The Guardians can become a real threat to our people if we fail to "master their challenges." The description in the Epic Store suggests that we cannot become too greedy as we develop our civilization.
There should be no stress: The screenshots give a good impression of the relaxed mood before We Leave:

(Largely) peaceful building
Except for the potential danger from the guards, unlike in Civ, we are not dealing with warlike neighbors. Before We Leave completely eliminates battles and wars.
So in Before We Leave we stay peaceful and take care of building our civilization. At first we don't know much (we only know potatoes, after all) and only build small huts to launch a first village.
Later we colonize other continents on the little globe that represents our planet. We have to do that Management of resources
By digging out ancient technologies, we finally make it out of our collection of villages and towns real space colony close. We also colonize other planets and connect them to an interplanetary network.
The further Before We Leave progresses, the more complex it becomes. This should raise hopes among those who are looking for a new challenge.
Incidentally, Epic has exclusively secured another new building game: In Industries of Titan we colonize Saturn's moon Titan and, similar to Sim City or Cities: Skylines, build huge cities that are strongly reminiscent of cyberpunk metropolises in IoT.
