Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser was the first to sell a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears at the Nintendo Store in New York.
It’s safe to say that when it comes to PR, no one does it quite like Nintendo. That’s in large part because it often flaunts its staff, whose members have been in top positions, such as former Nintendo of America president Reggie Firth-Aime and the late Satoru Iwata, who regularly appear in the company’s direction. Doug Bowser, the current president of Nintendo of America, doesn’t make as many appearances as his predecessors, but when it comes to big things, he’s there — and he’s at Nintendo’s New York flagship, as he (technically Speak) sold the first The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to the first client.
Other than The Game Awards and Hideo Kojima’s best friend Geoff Keighley, no one else was there to film the exchange between Bowser (the president, not the villainous Koopa) and the excited players, which you can see below. It’s a pretty sweet moment, as people who bought the game were clearly excited to pick up their copy, Masterblade in hand, and shield backpacks ready to store precious items. You can even hear Bowser “congratulate” the players when they pick the game, which honestly probably deserves it, I don’t want to imagine how long they’ve been camping out just to be number one.
Most of us aren’t even deep into the game yet. But given how much there is to do, you might need a little help making your new adventure a little smoother. Thankfully, we have some tips for beginners that should help you out if you feel a bit stuck. If you’re reading this and thinking, “Damn, I want to play Tears of Kingdoms, but I haven’t played Breath of the Wild, do I need to?” then you’re in luck, because we’ve found the answer to that question.
