Borderlands 3 players no longer have to wait long for new content. The action role-playing game is already running tomorrow, April 23, 2020, on a content offensive that comes close to a small DLC. The reason for this is the new seasonal event »Revenge of the Cartels«. At the same time, the update with Mayhem 2.0 ensures changes in the end game.

Borderlands 3 in the test: an (almost) perfect comeback
Revenge of the Cartels: What's New?
The event was revealed influenced by action films of the 80s, because you are dealing primarily with hard-hitting rackets and cartel gangsters in neon colors. The scene of the new story is the Villa Ultraviolet, the swanky property of the gangster bosses Joey Ultraviolet.
Your goal is to help Saurian Maurice out of trouble on Sanctuary 3. Little Dino apparently looked for help from the wrong people for his studies and they want him to the shed now. It is a matter of honor for us at GameStar to bail out people with the name Maurice.
How to get to the Villa Ultraviolet
- As soon as the update is online, you will receive an order from Maurice.
- The plan is for you to flatten the new cartel opponents that are now appearing all over the galaxy.
- As soon as you kill one of them, reinforcements come, which you also have to handle.
- Afterwards you get coordinates to the villa every time. If you have enough, Maurice can send you to the new area.
The villa can always be home to one of three different cartels. You then have to shoot your way through the entire area and switch off various sub-bosses and finally Joey Ultraviolet yourself. Each gang of cartels drops different legendary loot.
Mayhem 2.0: what changes in the endgame?
The endgame of Borderlands 3 is largely shaped by the chaos mode. You can turn up the difficulty of your game and you will be rewarded with better equipment. This concept will be further expanded with the new update on April 23.
That is new:
- You no longer have to go back to Sanctuary 3 if you want to activate Chaos mode. Thanks to Chaos 2.0, the setting can now also be made using your ECHO device. In multiplayer, the host continues to determine the chaos level.
- The possible selection of modifications was increased to 25. These modifications are divided into Light, Medium, Heavy and Very Heavy.
- Which modifiers are used is random. How many are included, however, depends on the respective chaos level 1 to 10.
- The higher the level of chaos, the better the loot. From chaos level 6, bosses can also drop new legendary weapons: For example, the Sniper Rifle Sand Hawk.
The individual modifiers don't always have to be something bad. Some in the lower levels also make your life easier. For example, the "galaxy brain" enlarges the heads of your opponents so that you can distribute headshots more easily. Others are primarily there to force a little variety. With »The ground is lava« you have to keep moving around in order not to be damaged.
