Destiny 2: Lightfall has been on the market for a week and a half and had to put up with some criticism, mainly because of the story. Bungie has now commented on this in the weekly devblog.
Destiny 2: Lightfall meets with divided opinions among many fans. Although innovations such as the mod system and loadouts are praised, many people don’t really warm to the story of the expansion’s campaign, as it has been bogging down quite a bit so far and hasn’t contributed much to the big picture. The “veil” also raises new questions.
Bungie has now taken a position on this and emphasized that Lightfall is only the start of a complete story year up to the upcoming expansion The Final Shape. In addition, Bungie has given a small preview of what awaits us in the coming seasons. It is mainly about a quest that will appear in the next Season of the Deep.
As part of this quest, you will explore Neonuma to learn more about the nature of the Veil through Osiris’ research and newly uncovered data from the Ishtar Collective. The quest will be available to all Lightfall owners and will take place independently of the events of Season of the Deep. As a reward for completing the final step, you will gain access to three new strand aspects (one per class):
-
Titan: Flechette Storm
-
Hunter: Threaded Specter
-
Warlock: The Wanderer
The new quest is intended to remain in Neonuma and persist after Year 6 is complete. Aside from the new aspects, a new exotic handgun also comes into play (see image above). Then we’re curious to see if the new quest will bring more context to the plot of Lightfall, which currently seems a bit detached from the big picture.
Apart from that, there are still a few date changes as far as PvP is concerned. Accordingly, the Trials of Osiris will be brought forward from March 24th to March 17th, while the Iron Banner will start a week later, on March 21st instead of March 14th. In addition, Bungie has also published a list of issues that are currently being worked on, after only yesterday a hotfix with some updates was applied. As always, you can find the complete devblog under the title “This Week at Bungie”.
