In the weekly Bungie Blog, the Destiny 2 developers have again commented on the innovations that await you in the soon to start Season 17. There is also a happy surprise.
For the upcoming season 17 of Destiny 2, Bungie apparently has a lot planned again. Some aspects have already been reported in the past, now Bungie has commented on some innovations in PvP, especially the Iron Banner.
The same will miss some changes and should, among other things, become more accessible by giving you more opportunities to increase your Iron Banner rank. First of all, the tokens are gone, instead you get a reputation-based progression system like other NPCs like Shaxx or Zavala. There are also new Daily Challenges that activate over the first four days of Iron Banner Week.
Furthermore, Bungie is turning away from the same control mode and wants to focus on other game modes season after season, starting with Rift in season 17. Apart from that, the power level will also be deactivated in the future, so that players with lower levels will have better chances to have. Power level will still be enabled in PvP endgame mode “Trials of Osiris”. Beginners can familiarize themselves with the changes that must be completed in order to gain access to the Iron Banner as part of a new quest.
However, there is a catch: The Iron Banner will now only take place twice per season. Season 17 is scheduled to start on May 31st and July 12th.
Probably the biggest surprise is that the PvP mode is finally getting a new map after almost three years. The card is called “Separation”. It is symmetrical, with a base at each corner, three straight lines with many side aisles, and large panels at the back. She is located in the swampy area of the pyramid in Savathûn’s throne world. Separation will be available in all 6v6, 3v3, and Crucible open-to-all modes, as well as Iron Banner, starting Day 1 of Season 17.
Apart from that, some adjustments to the various PvP modes are planned, such as changes to time limits, round point goals and points. The Gambit is receiving adjustments to reputation gain. If all else fails, you’ll be able to see the changes for yourself when Season 17 launches on May 24th.
