When you think about games that push modern hardware to the limit, Train Sim World may not be at the top of your list.
But a lot has happened behind the scenes, making them difficult to run.
In a recent interview with Dovetail Games CEO Paul Jackson, we talked about how Train Sim World evolved with games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, which uses new technology to create images that are almost realistic for our world.
According to Jackson, since there is nothing faked in the train simulator-you do travel on hundreds of miles of tracks-these types of games do push the console and PC to their limits.
Jackson explained, "In essence, trains and flight simulations are similar in that they try to be real." "They try to be realistic about the real world, but the truth is that flying means traveling around the world, and trains are really Specifically for its location and what it should do. Although the basic theory is the same, the actual approach is completely different.
"So I think being able to define and make really specific areas and make them as realistic as possible is the right choice for Train Simulator. In fact, the biggest factor deciding what we can offer our customers today is the console Features. Therefore, we may have more technologies than most technologies, and I wo n’t say all of them, but today, we are pushing most of the console technologies. Due to the quality of the tracks we try to provide to our customers and the sheer size of the content, We even pushed the management capabilities of the PC to its limits.
"What we are about to be about a hundred miles long. Then, the key nobody sees is the underlying simulation, and this is just physics. We are almost trying to physically recreate the real world and kill what we have All hardware platforms used, for which our physics engine is incredible.
Train simulator and train simulator world use as few tricks as possible. When you use the train's regulator, it sends a signal to the virtual control box, which sends the signal to the engine to turn on the power. The engine then powers the traction motors and they start running. Each wagon is different, and each adds a new memory burden to the hardware-this is part of why the DLC must be delivered in chunks.
Dovetail says it is very excited about the next generation-it will enable developers to push their simulations closer to reality.
"Every time a new powerful technology comes out, we think, 'Okay, we can provide more reality.'
