Experience PlayStation: is event preparing for the PS5 launch in February?

After several speculations before, the official confirmation that Sony was skipping the E3 2020 again came as no surprise. This increases the chance that the PS5 will be presented in detail at its own reveal event – and this could actually be done in a timely manner.

There has been speculation for some time that Sony would like to present the PlayStation 5 in detail at its own event in February 2020. Again and again, February 12, 2020 was read as the alleged d ate, but February 5 was also discussed on the Internet. All of this speculation could now be fueled, as a new PlayStation event could actually prepare a presentation of the console in this approximate time context.

Sony has heralded the "Experience PlayStation" event in its own store in New York City. This starts now and should last until February 16, 2020. Specifically, there is talk of a focus on the PS4 and titles for PlayStation VR, also because the PlayStation brand is celebrating its 25th anniversary. But many observers interpret this event significantly more.

Reason: The PlayStation 4 was also announced in February 2013. Specifically, this was the case on February 20. The event took place in – you guessed it – New York City, namely in the Manhattan Center. The PS4 Pro was also held in the (temporarily closed) PlayStation Theater in New York in September 2016. Is the new event "Experience PlayStation" a coincidence in a similar time window? That remains to be seen, because so far Sony has not dated an official PS5 launch.

In view of the months of speculation about a February performance and the PS4 history, Sony could possibly really prepare and set up a PS5 reveal event with the new New York event. We will of course keep you up to date on further developments.
