The long-running League of Legends is the next video game to be implemented in series by streaming giant Netflix. With “Arcane” a corresponding format has now been officially announced.
Riot Games and Netflix today officially announced a new series based on the hit game League of Legends. “Arcane” is an animated series of events that will be shown this year on the streaming giant. The start date is currently autumn 2021.
“Arcane” will be Riot Games’ foray into the world of streaming. The series takes place in the same universe as League of Legends and is developed and produced in collaboration with Fortiche Productions. Set underground in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed Zaun, the s tory follows the origins of two well-known Chamipons and the power that is said to mean the end of their friendship.
Netflix, in the person of Dominique Bazay, Director of Original Animation, is enthusiastic about the collaboration: “League of Legends is generating worldwide enthusiasm and we are delighted to be able to be home to Arcane, the first television series in this universe. The series takes fans on a visually spectacular roller coaster ride that will keep all viewers in suspense. “
Shauna Spenley of Riot Games describes the series as a “love letter to the players and fans”; this should make it possible to dive deeper into the worlds and champions of League of Legends.
