Rainbow Six Siege represents the new season Y6S2 vor: With the defense attorney Thunderbird and the Favela rework, two main pieces of content stand out, but even smaller changes have the potential for big improvements.
We introduce you to the most important innovations in the new Operation North Star in front. There are important adjustments, especially in terms of balance and transparency.
An official release date for North Star is not yet known, but on the test server, the operation will start on May 25, 2021. Given the dates so far, we assume that the full release will be mid-June.
These are the highlights of Operation North Star
The new operator Thunderbird
Thunderbird, a North American Nakoda Nation, was created with the help of consultants who are themselves of the Nakoda Nation.
- Thunderbird is a defender and built for speed.
- Her main weapon is the Spear .308 assault rifle, which is usually only available from Finka, or the Spas-15 shotgun, which is also available for Caveira.
- The secondary weapons are Q-929 pistol or Bearing-9 submachine gun.
- Thunderbird uses Impact Grenades or the nitro cell phone as equipment.
Kona Station: Thunderbirds Gadget in Rainbow Six: Siege is a healing station that heals every player in the vicinity, including enemies. However, there is a cooldown phase between each of the healing balls that the station spits out. In addition, players who have fallen to the ground can use the station to get themselves back on their feet.

New casual rework for favela
Operation North Star has given the R6 Siege card Favela in the Brazilian slums a major overhaul for the casual playlist. The most important levers are:
- Many breakable walls have been removed to give defenders more chances to hide.
- The layout of the interiors has been extensively changed. Favela should feel almost like a new map in the same setting.
- Orientation towards the favela should be easier thanks to less chaotic level elements and better readability.

Better balance and transparency
With Season Y6S2 in Rainbow Six: Find Siege Improvements in the transparency of the weapon attachments and the recognizability of defeated players their way into the game.
This should make it easy to determine on the basis of the attachments which improvements, for example, which mouth attachment offers. New symbols also replace the corpses of dead players. This should make it easier to see which operator died at the respective point without obstructing the view. The focus here is on legibility and orientation on site.
In addition, the operators Melusi and Smoke receive adjustments. Melusi’s Banshee gadget opens for a moment after the update before it takes effect, giving attackers time to destroy it. Smoke’s smoke should spread more naturally in the room and no longer glitch through walls.
New disadvantages for defenders
Shattered-Glass-Feature: Attackers can now break the pane of Mira’s sight glass and Maestro’s armored camera, making it opaque, although not permeable. This allows attackers to at least eliminate the hostile source of information. This only works with a melee attack. Maestro can still open the Evil Eye’s protective glass to see something and fire the laser.
Simple bullet holes are no longer transparent: Defenders must now create larger holes in destructible walls to see through. This is supposed to make the gameplay easier for attackers who could previously be cleared up and attacked through a single overlooked bullet hole.
Both changes should help attackers to act more effectively. The defenders, on the other hand, have to resort to new strategies and always remain flexible.
