You also have to leave the intermediate lands for better or for worse, no matter how grandiose the Elden Ring may be. So far, it was typical of Fromsoftware but always a bit cumbersome to close the game. The latest patch 1.05 finally addresses this issue and fixes many other bugs as well. How has it been so far? Anyone who has played a few Souls titles knows the long road to ending. You go to the menu, exit the game, wait for the black screen, look at the logo that appears, until you are finally back in the main menu and can close the game completely. An agonizingly long detour for something that’s usually done in a matter of seconds.
What does the patch change? As usual in almost every PC game, the latest patch finally adds a “Return to Desktop” button and lets you close the game immediately without the annoying detour via the main menu.
A hidden change
Value of runes is now displayed. Another “Quality-Of-Life” feature apparently didn’t make it into the patch notes. From now on you can finally see how much your runes are worth before you consume them.
What was the problem? If you still need a few points for a level up, the found rune items are the perfect solution. However, you never knew how many runes you would get from the various items, which is why you often overshot the mark and had a few runes left after the ascent.
The three most important changes
In addition to many small bug fixes and slight performance improvements, there are three extremely interesting changes:
- New Game Plus: From now on, the important sound pearls will be transferred to a new run, which is why you can buy forging stones from the twin trader right at the beginning.
- Bottle Upgrade: As soon as you have a golden seed or a teardrop in your inventory, this will be displayed in the Place of Mercy menu.
- Fast Magic Attacks: Previously it was possible to cast extremely fast spell combos on opponents. Apparently this was just a bug and has been removed from the game.
