Graphics card prices are falling, the next generation is just around the corner: what should you buy now?

Declining graphics card prices, that we can still experience that! Although the costs of a Geforce RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 are currently still (mostly) above the recommended retail price (RRP), the market is finally moving again. So the question arises: What is the reason?

And above all: Should I buy now – and if so, which card?

Micha talks about this in the second issue of our new hardware format with our graphics card gurus Nils and Alex.

Because the question »What should I buy« is not that easy to answer. Especially because the next generation of graphics cards is already lurking on the horizon, we expect the release of the Geforce RTX 4000 and Radeon RX 7000 at the end of 2022 or beginning of 2023.

That’s why we also have to discuss what we expect from this upcoming generation – not only in terms of performance (Will AMD or Nvidia win the performance duel), but also in terms of price and power consumption, which could increase significantly.

We are also expecting new market participants:

On the one hand, Intel, who are probably approaching the laptop market with their Arc Alchemist graphics cards for the time being, but are taking their time with it.
On the other hand, there are Chinese manufacturers who are still largely unknown in this country, whose cards are in the low-end area, but which could establish themselves as competitors for Nvidia and AMD in the long term.

In short: This hardware podcast is a graphics card wrap-around: prices, next generation, competition for AMD and Nvidia – as well as technological trends for the near future.
