A recent study on American video game trends has just been published and shows, among other things, the importance of free-to-play games among American gamers.
A successful economic model
Gaming industry has just released a recent study conducted in the United States that aims to highlight the video game trends of gamers in the United States. Conducted by the analytics company ComScore and published in partnership with the in-game advertising company Anzu, this study shows, among other things, how many American gamers have spent real money on free-to-play games. And the result is clear: 82% of players spent money on service games. Impressive numbers that once again underline the importance of free-to-play titles in today’s video game landscape.
American gambling in numbers
The study conducted by ComScore does not only focus on this point, but also collects other particularly interesting data. For example, we learn that 62% of adults aged 18 and over are gamers, 49% of whom belong to Generation Y, compared to 13% of Generation Z.
Of the total population studied, 77% are active gamers on more than one platform, while a third of them actively play on PC, console and mobile devices simultaneously.
In total, American gamers have spent more than 45 billion hours on websites and applications dedicated to video games. Finally, the study notes that e-sports are becoming increasingly popular in the United States, while 86% of Gen Z gamers and 80% of Millennials say they watch e-sports.
