The long-awaited shooter sequel STALKER 2 was supposed to cause a sensation this spring. But if you believe the rumours, nothing will come of it.
A source from Ukraine, who has previously leaked accurate information about STALKER 2 – Heart of Chernobyl, now claims that the release date for the shooter sequel will unfortunately be delayed by at least six months. So, the wait for fans of the franchise is likely to continue after almost 13 years since the release of Call of Pripyat.
The Ukrainian YouTuber Oldboi is apparently well connected at GSC Game World and, citing his own sources, claims that the release has already been postponed to autumn 2022. The developers will therefore officially communicate this fact at the next presentation of the shooter.
But there are also pleasant side notes: The game, which was initially based on Unreal Engine 4, has meanwhile been shipped to Unreal Engine 5 in order to enable a true next-gen experience. The game has thus far been confirmed for PC and Xbox Series X/S. PS5 players can also have hopes: A PS5 variant is said to be in the works and will be released either in late 2022 or early 2023 – then also with DualSense support for some gameplay mechanics.
An official confirmation of the postponement and the PS5 version is still pending. STALKER 2, once planned for 2012, is currently announced for PC and Xbox Series X/S for April 28, 2022. We’ll keep you up to date!
