Funcom announced its big open world game during Gamescom 2022: Dune Awakening. A title that, given its style, will not appeal to everyone.

MMO Dune Awakening announced
Publisher Funcom is betting heavily on the franchise, which has been updated with Denis Villeneuve’s film, with no fewer than two titles in development. So here is Dune Awakening, the youngest that is a “Massively multiplayer online survival game set in the world of Dune”.
The title combines the grit and creativity of survival games with the social interactivity of large-scale persistent multiplayer apps to create a unique and ambitious open-world survival MMO. Go from survival to domination in a vast and seamless Arrakis shared by thousands of players.
You must build shelters against sandstorms; take care of your suit; to avoid being eaten by a giant sandworm. In addition to controlling Arrakis, you must manage the spice by digging it up and then protecting it from looters and opposing factions.
Your character will be customizable at will and you can even influence the plot itself, which will be rich in conflicts.
Dune Awakening is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. No release date was given.
