Bad news for golf fans as we learned that the EA Sports PGA Tour just suffered one hell of a delay. In fact, the game will be postponed for a year.
Golf fans will therefore have to wait another year before they can get their hands on the EA Sports PGA Tour, as the game will eventually be released in Spring 2023. The announcement was made on the official account of the franchise, which was not really given any explanation for this shift.
Double bogey
Originally announced at the end of March 2021, the game should arrive in spring 2022. With a little imagination, we suspect the title will appear at the time of the 2023 Masters, which will be played on the greens at National Golf Club of Augusta in the first week of April. The course will also appear again in a video game, which is a first since 2013.
EA Sports reminds us that its game will be the only one that integrates the four majors, namely the Masters, the US Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship. The title will feature the entire FedEx Cup and end-of-season playoffs in addition to the Players Championship, which will be played at TPC Sawgrass. Better yet, the ladies are honored with the attendance of the LPGA’s Evian Championship, as well as the entire Ladies European Tour.
EA Sports PGA Tour: Back to Business!
Career mode puts us in the shoes of a young golfer starting out on the Korn Ferry Tour who aspires to play in the PGA Championship. Remember, EA Sports PGA Tour will be EA’s first golf game since the release of Rory McIlroy PGA Tour in 2015. This opus broke the Tiger Woods PGA Tour’s long annual streak following the sex scandal that had afflicted the Tiger during those years.
Since then, the golf game genre has been somewhat neglected until HB Studios released The Golf Club series in 2017. Discovered by publisher 2K, the studio was able to leverage a larger budget to publish The Golf Club 2019 with PGA Tour in 2018, then PGA Tour 2K21 in 2020.
