A film comparable to “Lord of the Rings” is finally returning to France
Unless you are a big fan of Chinese cinema and it was available in France at the time of its flash release, you have certainly never seen the first film in the trilogy Creation of the gods. A few months ago, on the occasion of Chinese New Year, The film was shown in French cinemas for… two days
In fact, Creation of the Gods is an adaptation of The Investiture of the Gods, originally written in 16th century China. This first work tells the story of the rise to power of an evil prince named Yin Shou. Apparently his rule is being challenged by a young hero named Ji Fa. As is often the case with Chinese fantasy films, this is to be expected impressive staging and to visual effects to die for, even if plausibility is ignored. If this cultural difference does not bother you or even fascinates you, know that you can finally discover the first installment of this trilogy in French cinemas. In fact, it’s now official, Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms will finally be released in France on July 10th.
A treatment reminiscent of another
If you like Asian cinema, the treatment of Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms might remind you of something else. In fact, it is not the first time that a film from this part of the world has been shown in French cinemas for just a few days. End of 2023 “Godzilla Minus One” actually only had two bad days on air, although it still won over many viewers in this short time. Finally, a few weeks later, it was incorporated into the official program and returned with fanfare.
We sincerely hope that this kind of method does not become a habit for Asian films, which can attract large crowds even in France. Furthermore, while it required a colossal budget (close to that of James Cameron’s Avatar), Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms is already a success in its country of origin
