Netflix is soon back with this big hit of 2023, which will lead to a number of projects this year. We expect no less than two big films! A sequel and an alternative version that will certainly please fans of the first hour.
Last year Netflix released a huge hit for us. One of them came from Zack Snyder’s fuming imagination. Rebel MoonAnd war of stars Snyderian marked the month of December last year, but not just for good reasons. Opinions about the film varied widely. The press mostly took it down, emphasizing disgusting special effects, a plot that goes in all directions, and a slight misuse of slow motion.
Rebel Moon is a big hit, but not a real success…
It’s hard to prove them wrong. The film looks like pure adolescent delirium, mixing genres without ever concocting a truly pleasant cocktail and letting us follow a cast of bodybuilding heroes who all strive to be more classy than the next. The camera then glorifies the slightest movement of this motley crew, whose members all seem to come from the same mold, in heroic poses with strong slow motion on a green background.
As a bonus, after almost 2:30 hours of film, we still don’t understand everything, we don’t have the impression of knowing the heroes, the dimensions of the universe that nevertheless attracts a world as huge as George’s Lucas saga. Luckily, there is Kora, the leading lady, played by the charming Sofia Boutella, who runs the house from a distance. For many, it’s hardly an honest conversation, but as always, it’s already loved by Zack Snyder fans. This did not stop the film from becoming a hit on Netflix and preparing sequels, a video game but also a surprise.
A sequel and an uncensored version are coming, it will be a hit!
Like with Justice LeagueThe director has prepared a new version of his latest film. A Rebel Moon Rated R, which is the under-16 rating in our country, will be released this year, Snyder announced in a podcast earlier this month.
It’ll almost be a new movie, “as if it were happening in a parallel universe” said the director. When the film was in the works, Netflix is said to have requested this Rebel Moon that the film is accessible to a wide audience and that the 2-hour standard is adhered to. Snyder would therefore have shortened almost 200 pages of the script by dividing his work into two parts. He also made numerous concessions, which in his opinion explains the poor reception of his feature film.
But good news: Netflix finally told Zack Snyder that he had free rein to propose and release a second version of his film. Complete artistic freedom, which leads to a longer film, i.e. new sequences, but also much more pronounced violence. We have a pretty clear idea of certain scenes involving hectoliters of blood, but we’ll wait and see the rest.
Release dates for the new version of Rebel Moon and its sequel
This new version of Rebel Moon will be revealed in summer 2024, so it’s happening pretty quickly. The second film will be released much earlier, Rebel Moon Part 2: L’entailleuse will be released on April 19, 2024. Will he also have the right to his long, uncensored version? Good question. In any case, the trailer promises us once again a film full of action scenes and slow motion, the hallmark of the house.
