Philipp Weber is Senior Quest Designer at CD Projekt Red, is currently working on Cyberpunk 2077 and has a lot to tell. So we invited him to the GameStar podcast, where Micha and Elena squeezed out information about the main and side missions of Cyberpunk 2077
For example, Philipp clears up the misinformation that you can see the credits of Cyberpunk 2077 even if you ignore all the main missions and concentrate only on side missions. Rather, there are side jobs that influence the main story. For example, if we decide to help a certain supporting character, we may meet that character again later in the main story.
Philipp also tells how the Quest designers from Cyberpunk 2077 deal with loot. Actually, the story is supposed to motivate; CD Projekt doesn’t want players to tick off a quest just to get a new weapon or something.
And of course we ask Philipp how much freedom he gives the players in finding solutions and how many eventualities he can take into account in his quests. After all, the different capabilities of Cyberpunk 2077 should have an impact on dialog options and allow alternative approaches – can that really always work?
