Where Winds Meet is an upcoming game where you will shape your destiny in the last days of the Ten Kingdoms era in Chinese history.
The open-world action-adventure RPG was announced during Gamescom’s opening night livestream and is currently in development at emerging game development company Everstone Studio.
In the game, you will participate in fast-paced martial arts battles, experience different occupations and their respective tasks, and explore a large game world that is both beautiful and full of secrets.
The background of Winds Meet began in China at the end of the Ten Kingdoms. Here, Li Yu, the last emperor of the Southern Tang Dynasty, ruled the world as emperor, but was better known as the immortal Poetry King. It was his love of poetry, not power, that ultimately cost him himself in the war and saw him captive to Song.
During the three years in detention, Mr. Li missed his motherland and his lover constantly. After realizing that his fate lay in a glass of poisonous wine, he turned those desires into a masterpiece called Poppy.
The background of the game is set in the era of war and chaos in the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty. Here, you take on the role of a wandering swordsman who uses their martial arts and swordsmanship skills to survive against countless enemies. In this world, you must choose to uphold your moral code to protect the innocent and fight for justice, or live only for yourself, risking further chaos and desperation seeping into the land.
Combat in the game features fast-paced martial arts-style combat in which you counter enemy blows, use tai chi to deflect attacks or use acrobatics to strike from every angle. You’ll have access to a variety of martial arts skills and ranged weapons, allowing you to use a variety of abilities to defeat your enemies.
The world of Where Winds Meet is also home to different wild animals and supernatural creatures that require unique fighting styles. Your martial arts skills will also be used to explore the world by climbing walls, jumping over rooftops, and sprinting. Your horse will also take you quickly across the land.
While combat will play out in the game, you can choose to be whoever you want. You can be a doctor who saves lives or a businessman who earns as much gold as possible.
The game also features a free build system with over 600 components that allow you to build structures. You can choose to live freely, ignore side events, pursue the main storyline, and face the most dangerous enemies in the realm.
Winds Meet is coming to PC and has no release date, but a beta version is planned for sometime this year.
