Almost a month before the start of season 1, Netflix released a trailer for “Vikings: Valhalla”. The “Vikings” spin-off takes place in the early 11th century, more than 100 years after the events of “Vikings”.
At the center of “Vikings: Valhalla” are Leif Eriksson, his sister Freydis Eriksdotter and the Norse prince Harald Sigurdsson. Together they travel from Kattegat to England and beyond as the Vikings grapple not only with the English nobility, but also with issues of faith.
In the trailer, however, the plot is secondary, here the focus is on the action. Showrunner Jeb Stuart confirmed to the US magazine that the Vikings will not live out their pent-up anger in the finished series with polished dialogues Entertainment Weekly: “I come from the world of action movies, where everything happens very fast. I won’t give you 30 seconds to ask yourself ‘Hmm, what did he mean by that strange comment?’, you have to keep at it.”
Action fans who have never seen “Vikings” will be able to follow the new series without any problems. The characters from the past are long dead by the time “Vikings: Valhalla” is released. Although there will be small allusions and the fate of Rollo is still to be clarified, apart from that “Valhalla” is an independent series from which still several seasons are planned.
There are still a few weeks until the start of all 8 episodes of season 1 on February 25, 2022, until then you will surely find exciting titles in our overview of Netflix innovations.
