Quiet down everyone, Hellraiser 2 developer Arrowhead has just announced the game’s “biggest update yet.” It’s called “Freedom Update,” and it’s coming early next month, with a ton of new content that players have been craving.
Yep, if killing enemies at super-fast speeds and catching MO in less than an hour has you a little tired of the whole galactic war thing, then it looks like your prayers to the Super Earth-worshipping deity (Arnold Schwarzenegger, perhaps?) have been answered.

“We’ve taken the time to gather feedback from Battlefront players and add even more variety to our game content. From missions and objectives to enemies and planets, we’ve got a ton of new content for veterans and newcomers to Battlefront,” Arrowhead community manager Katherine Baskin wrote in an update on the PlayStation Blog. “Get ready for our biggest update yet!”
Kicking off the new additions, Arrowhead is calling it “CR 10: Super Hell Dive,” its “most challenging and brutal dive difficulty level yet,” and hopes it will “give players the tension they seek on the battlefield” while offering greater rewards than less difficult dives.
Whether or not the infiltration you’re doing is a super-infiltration, you’ll encounter “new mission objectives and larger enemy outposts, with both robots and bugs offering new super-specimen rewards.” “These outposts will be heavily fortified, requiring player coordination and strategy to take them out,” Baskin writes, so get ready to make some battle plans on the fly in MS Paint.
Then, there are the new enemies. The mist-shrouded Spore Chargers, the Impalers from the first Hellstalkers, and the Terminid Alpha Commander are joining the Bugs, while the Rocket Tanks and “some other robot surprises” – which the developers are keeping under wraps for now – are joining the Automatons. Add to that the swamps, with their “roiling mists and untamed flora”, and you’ll need to bring a flashlight, and things should be pretty chaotic.
Finally, as part of the update, Arrowhead is “making changes to mitigate grief kick issues” and fixing issues with the social menu. “To help improve this, we’ve implemented a system where if a player is kicked, they will enter a new session as the host and carry all of their team’s loot from the previous session,” Baskin wrote of the former. “Players can now pick up all items before evacuating. The kicked party’s squad will see a message in the chat widget indicating that the player has been kicked, but their loot remains intact.”
“Freedom Upgrade” will be released on August 6.
